“As we live and as we are, Simplicity – with a capital “S” – is difficult to comprehend nowadays. We are no longer truly simple. We no longer live in simple terms or places. Life is a more complex struggle now. It is now valiant to be simple: a courageous thing to even want to be simple. It is a spiritual thing to comprehend what simplicity means.”
― Frank Lloyd Wright, The Natural House
Santa Lucija, Gozo

Love FLR! There’s a few of his houses and projects floating around Buffalo. I also love your photo! Beautiful.

The beauty of decay…but to admire it can also mean to not understand the meaning it has for the people that live in it: poverty…emigration…loss… and the fears connected to these.

That is so true, when one captures decay like this it is always good to remember the past and some of the less beautiful things that were….. thank you for the reminder.

Your photo is the epitome of simplicity, Agnes. I often appreciated such scenes when I lived in Greece.

Simplicity in that it is a very sober picture of what was, but one can see the beauty in the colours that the limestone takes on, and of the plain architectural features whereas in the Maltese islands you also see much richt Baroque facades.
